About
I was raised in Brooklyn, NY, where I felt like a country mouse stuck in the city. I preferred trees over lampposts and looked for nature where I could. As a young child I was also passionate about psychology. At eleven years old I read a book on hypnosis, carried that book around with me and tried to hypnotize my poor little friends into a state of relaxation and guided imagery.
I graduated Brooklyn College in 2003 with a major in Psychology. After college, I worked as a counselor to Developmentally Delayed adults. I loved that job so much that I decided to continue my education and graduated from NYU school of social work in 2007. From 2008-2016 I worked in a New York State psychiatric hospital. Patients in that hospital had a variety of different diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. In 2013 a small team of clinicians and I began a Dialectical Behavior Therapy program at the hospital, which still thrives today.
I also provided private psychotherapy to individuals since 2009 in an office setting and in homes of people with medical issues.
My personal path has led me to become a student of the Theravada Buddhist teachings and meditation. I have had a meditation practice since 2011 and attended silent retreats at the Insight Meditation Society in Massachusetts and Bhavana Society in West Virginia. Incorporating meditation and Buddhist philosophies has beem monumental in my personal growth and how I conduct therapy.
Today I have a husband and two young sons.We enjoy living in the mountains, going on hikes, creating healthy and fun meals and bringing mindfulness into our lives and family
Therapy
I create a warm, non judgmental space for my clients to express themselves, explore their problems and create plans to overcome those problems. I have been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and use these and other techniques to help my patients gain a sense of agency and wellbeing.
Currently, I provide psychotherapy to adults and adolescents exclusively online/teletherapy. Some of my specialties cover: bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, mood dysregulation issues, impulse control issues, having thoughts of suicide, trauma and history of sexual abuse.
